Accredited through the Open College Network, on successful completion of this six week course participants will be awarded credits at level 2 or level 3.
The Housing Advice Training Programme is a 6 week course designed to enable those working in the housing arena to gain a qualification which enhances the skills and knowledge necessary to provide comprehensive housing advice.
It provides participants with the necessary skills, knowledge and information to enable them to have an increased role in housing advice and advocacy in Northern Ireland and covers:
Introduction to Housing Advice
Social Housing
Homelessness
Rights & Responsibilities of Social Tenants & Landlords
Private Rented Sector
Financing Accommodation through Housing Benefit
who the course is suitable for
The course will meet the training needs of:
generalist advice workers,
NIHE and housing association staff,
other statutory agencies such as Environmental Health Departments & Social Services,
solicitors,
community groups
residents groups.
Participants will attend training one day per week and in addition, undertake work based learning activities such as case studies, and research activities to build their portfolio of evidence. To assist inachieving this, participants will have the support of the lead tutorand a specialist casework adviser.
